Rubber expansion joints and flexible connections for industrial piping systems
A rubber expansion joint is a flexible connecting component used to absorb movements, vibrations and stresses in piping systems. At HNC Group we have many years of experience and specialist knowledge in flexible connections, having advised on and supplied rubber expansion joints to a wide range of industries. Whether it is a new build or the replacement of existing expansion joints, we are a competent and reliable partner.
We always take the individual project as our starting point and assess factors such as pressure, temperature and the medium in question in order to find the optimum solution. In many cases, a custom rubber expansion joint may be necessary to ensure operational reliability and a long service life.
Rubber expansion joints from HNC Group
We supply rubber expansion joints in various sizes and materials, so you can find the solution that best suits your project. At HNC Group you get:

Areas of application
Rubber expansion joints are used in a wide range of installations, including:
Why choose a rubber expansion joint?
When installing piping systems, pumps, motors and other process equipment, there is often a need for flexible connections. Rubber expansion joints offer several advantages:
Frequently asked questions about rubber expansion joints
What is a rubber expansion joint?
A rubber expansion joint is a flexible coupling used to absorb vibrations, noise and movements in pipe installations.
When should a rubber expansion joint be used?
A rubber expansion joint should be used when you want to protect installations against stresses, extend their service life and reduce operating noise.
How do I choose the right rubber expansion joint?
The choice depends on the pressure, temperature and medium in your system. Contact HNC Group for advice on the optimum solution.
When designing piping systems, installing pumps, motors and so on, a need for flexible connections may arise.
These connections must be able to absorb pipe expansion, pipe contraction, vibrations from pumps, installation misalignments, pressure surges, reduction of noise transmitted in the pipes and much more.
One solution may be a rubber expansion joint; these rubber expansion joints are available in many variants covering different needs.
There are rubber expansion joints with a focus on high pressure combined with a high temperature.
Or a particular type of rubber may be required because the medium demands it. The bellows of the rubber expansion joint is typically made of EPDM or NBR, but CIIR and PTFE are also available.
The rubber expansion joint is typically fitted with a loose swivel flange drilled to EN1092-1, but can be supplied drilled to all common standards. Flange finishes other than the standard electro-galvanised are possible, e.g. hot-dip galvanised or a version made entirely of stainless steel.
Other variants of rubber expansion joints include models with union connection, union nut connection and types fitted with tie rods to absorb lateral movements without loading the system with reaction forces.
